The time is here!  Tonight is the kickoff to the KGSR Blues on the Green 2016 summer schedule.  As usual, Zilker Park will become packed with Austinites from all over the city.  The park area is taken over by KGSR and many other sponsors who put on the free show throughout the season.

Whether you walk, ride a bike, or car pool, I highly suggest you experience this event at least once.  There will be live music from amazing artists and a row of food vendors setup, it's nearly impossible to not have a good time.  Bring a comfortable blanket, spread it out, invite your friends, and relax.  It's yet one more family (including pets) friendly outing that anyone can attend.

Tonight's schedule includes vocals & tunes by Mike Flanigan's The Drifter with Billy Gibbons, Jimmie Vaughan, Charlie Sexton, and Peterson Brothers.  Each artist puts on a great show that you might compare to a paid show such as ACL or FunFunFun Fest.  They do it for the fans, not for the check.  If you're a front row type of person, you should probably arrive early to secure your spot.  It can get very difficult to navigate the compact area with so many bodies huddled together.

The park offers many areas to settle down, so choose your favorite spot & get comfortable.  If you're getting there early before your group of friends, it could be a good idea to come prepared with a flag & pole of some sort so your buddies can find you easily.  Believe me, you can easily lose your spot in the crowded sea of people, even more so after sunset.

Bring some cash & an empty stomach for the variety of food that is offered.  Restuarants attending are - Freeb!rds, Heros Gyros, Shake Shack, Black's Barbecue, Raising Cane's Chicken Fingers, Cafe Mueller & Table 620.  This is one thing I always forget to do & 9x out of 10, I regret it.  Seeing people walk by with large bowls of yummy food & the look of joy on their face as they bite into their dish is one experience you only have to go through once before getting it right next time.

Music starts at 8pm.  For more info, you can visit the official site below...
